AVMS GmbH - history and vision for the future
Every company history is a part of success – and stories deserve to be told. The history of AVMS GmbH is now almost a quarter of a century old, and we look back on the past years with pride. We are happy to share our journey with you and tell you enthusiastically about the milestones that have made us what we are today.
Our history and the management
In 1995, Michael Weiland, who had previously worked at PIK AG, founded AVMS GmbH in Teltow near Berlin. The first years of the company’s history were strongly influenced by the founder’s experience and focused on fixed installations in and around Berlin. One of the first important projects was the media technology equipment for the CDU and SPD party headquarters. The early years of AVMS were also characterized by a long-standing partnership with Allianz Versicherung and numerous projects in museums and other institutions.
Over time, the company grew and expanded its portfolio. In 2001, AVMS became a member of the Karow Group and strengthened its presence on the Berlin market. Unfortunately, the company founder passed away in the same year after a short, serious illness.
September 11, 2001 and the subsequent economic crisis also had an impact on the Karow Group. The original business model could not be maintained and the parent company Karow TV filed for insolvency in 2003. However, AVMS GmbH went its own way and embarked on a highly successful journey under new management.
A new beginning – and a bright future
In January 2003, Knud Hackradt, Matthias Wolf and Janosch Auth took over the management of AVMS and opened an office in Frankfurt. This step represented a milestone and laid the foundation for the further development of the company.
Two world tours with Siemens, numerous trade fair appearances, events and permanent installations – including for Telekom in Bonn and Frankfurt – characterized the following years. AVMS GmbH continued to develop, and with the takeover of Createc in 2007, a new department for trussing and lighting technology was created.
Thanks to a very diverse customer portfolio, AVMS was able to survive the 2008 economic crisis largely unscathed. However, Matthias Wolf left the company at the beginning of 2008.
Expansion and integration
In 2015, the Swiss company Wedia AG joined the AVMS family, which has been operating under the name AVMS Schweiz AG ever since. A year later, in 2016, AVMS took over the ailing Panel5 in Hanover and successfully integrated it into the group of companies. Together with the shareholders Andre Kaschel and Martin Ruoff, AVMS Hannover GmbH quickly developed into another strong location in the AVMS family.
AVMS today – a 360° service provider for media and event technology
With four locations and around 75 employees, AVMS GmbH is one of the leading service providers in media and event technology in 2020. The motto “Visions come true”, which we coined back in 2004, lives on and continues to grow. Today, we not only offer first-class technology from all areas of event technology, but also innovative ideas and customized solutions.
