Frankfurt Book Fair with a long tradition and an anniversary

The Frankfurt Book Fair is now celebrating a 500-year tradition and is thus almost as old as book printing itself.

The book fair had its beginnings in Frankfurt’s old town. Over time, the fair grew, the international interest grew and so did the venue. The Frankfurt Book Fair grew out of the Paulskirche, so that it was allowed to feel at home on the Frankfurt exhibition grounds from 1949 onwards. Like the size, the content and structure evolved over time.

It all started with readings.
Marcel Reich-Ranicki, proactive and ready for discussion, equalized the one-sided reading atmosphere and thus created space for dialogue. Increasingly, authors and scientists were offered a stage on which they could engage in exchange with readers and interested parties. Since 1993, the Frankfurt Book Fair has been opening up to electronic media in addition to conventional book printing, thus actively promoting digitisation and progress.

Not only poets and thinkers are offered a stage here. Celebrities, artists and politicians also present their works here to the whole world. The B2B function and thus the bringing together of authors and publishers has long since ceased to be the only thing the Frankfurt Book Fair is about. On two days of the fair, the gates will also be opened to the public, so that everyone can participate in the fascination of reading.

In order to live this experience with all senses, the technical background and thus also we as 360° event technology service provider, become indispensable. Because as times have changed, it is not only the book that has evolved as the focal point of the fair, but also the way it is staged.

This mammoth project, which takes place over five days in October, involves six months of preparation and planning, full of calculations, arrangements and fine-tuning. Our planning leads to the implementation by a total of 80 employees who act on site and in the warehouse to ensure absolute smoothness.

That is why we have been the proud official service provider of the Frankfurt Book Fair for 25 years.
