Close to the Sky—A Summer Festival for Those Who Don’t Get Dizzy
Bright sunshine, a cloudless sky, and a great atmosphere: On July 11, 2026, about 25 AVMS employees traded the usual hustle and bustle of the event industry for a summery outdoor experience. Instead of assembling heavy trusses, configuring complex LED walls, or working with intense concentration at control consoles, the day’s agenda focused on relaxing together. This year’s summer party offered the team the perfect opportunity to leave the stress of trade shows and mixing consoles behind for a few hours and focus entirely on spending time together. Once again, it became clear that the strong sense of camaraderie—which is essential for demanding media technology projects—is firmly anchored in the company culture even outside of day-to-day business.
Overcoming a Fear of Heights: Strong Team Spirit at the Climbing Park
The summer party kicked off with plenty of action at the Kriftel Climbing Park. After a thorough safety briefing and equipped with professional safety gear, the staff headed high up into the green treetops. For many event technicians, working at heights is nothing new—after all, professionally rigging spotlights and speakers under hall ceilings is part of their daily routine— but balancing on wobbly wooden walkways and thin wire ropes required a whole different kind of concentration. Amid the shady trees, it quickly became clear who had a steady hand and a sure footing.
But navigating the obstacle course wasn’t a walk in the park for everyone. The unfamiliar surroundings and the dizzying heights presented a real personal challenge for some of our colleagues. It was precisely in these moments that the true spirit of the AVMS team shone through: With great courage and a healthy dose of willpower, several employees rose to the occasion that afternoon and overcame their fear of heights. Such successes are only possible when there is unconditional trust in the technology and, above all, in the support of one’s own group.
This mutual motivation was palpable throughout the climbing park. From the safety of the ground, but also from the small wooden platforms between the obstacles, shouts, tips, and words of encouragement were exchanged. No one was left behind, and every step—no matter how small—out of one’s comfort zone was celebrated together. The thrilling zip-line rides proved to be the absolute highlight and a rewarding conclusion to the grueling climbing routes. On the “Flying Fox,” the AVMS experts zoomed through the forest with smiles on their faces, perfectly rounding out the action-packed part of the day.
A Relaxed BBQ with Flight Cases as Buffet Tables
After the physical exertion high up in the treetops, the action shifted to the Sulzbach branch’s grounds in the late afternoon. As you’d expect from a well-coordinated team in the event and trade show industry, setting up for the evening’s culinary portion went by in a flash, with everyone working hand in hand. Everyone knew immediately where to pitch in, so the courtyard was transformed into a cozy venue in no time. One particularly charming industry-specific detail couldn’t be left out: Without further ado, sturdy flight cases were rolled out of the warehouse and cleverly repurposed as sturdy buffet tables—creative proof that media technology cuts a fine figure not only on stage but also when it comes to catering.
The culinary highlight of the evening was the large grill, where the management personally took charge of the tongs. It is a time-honored tradition that, at the summer party, the executives take care of the staff’s meals, thereby directly showing their appreciation for the work they’ve done. Juicy burgers and hearty steaks hit the hot grill, and their aroma quickly wafted across the courtyard. At the same time, the rest of the buffet left nothing to be desired: a rich selection of vegetarian and vegan specialties, as well as numerous fresh, crisp salads, offered just the right thing for every taste to replenish everyone’s energy reserves.
With their plates piled high, the group settled in comfortably under a large, shady pavilion. With upbeat music playing in the background and cool drinks in hand, a lively atmosphere quickly took hold. Away from strict schedules and technical drawings, casual conversations arose that, for a change, didn’t revolve around the next setups, but instead provided space for personal anecdotes and shared laughter. This relaxed end to the evening underscored the family-like atmosphere within the company and brought the day to a close in a wonderful, harmonious setting.
The AVMS Summer Festival 2026 impressively demonstrated that mutual trust, courage, and a strong team spirit form the very foundation of the company.
