Summer party with adventure - AVMS paddles through the Lahn and celebrates team spirit

On the morning of August 21, 21 motivated AVMS colleagues from the Sulzbach branch gathered, ready for an adventure of a special kind. In small groups, they set off in company vehicles to the Krumos canoe base near Wetzlar – the starting point for a canoe trip that would remain a topic of conversation for a long time to come.

Canoeing through the Lahn - team spirit, locks and nature experiences on our canoe tour

After a quick refreshment with bottles of water and a group photo, which already included the first sunglasses poses and paddle poses, a shuttle bus took us to the Lahn Canoe Station at the Wetzlar Canoe Club. Life jackets, paddles and a briefing were already waiting there, conducted by a charming guide nicknamed “Captain Kai”. His words: “If you capsize, you can swim – but in style, please!” became the unofficial motto of the day.

The boats were launched, with four colleagues sharing a canoe. The six teams quickly developed their own strategies:

  • Team Turbo got off to a flying start and it felt like they were already in Koblenz before the others had even boarded.
  • The pleasure paddlers, on the other hand, enjoyed the tranquillity of the Lahn, watched herons and dragonflies and discussed the best barbecue side dishes.
  • Team Music & Chaos had little orientation, but a Bluetooth box with party music and the loudest laugh on the river.

The Lahn showed itself from its most beautiful side: gently meandering through green meadows, past old mills, enchanted riverside landscapes and curious duck families. The sun was reflected in the water, dragonflies danced across the surface and occasionally a hiker greeted you from the bank.

It was particularly exciting at the three locks, which had to be operated by the participants themselves. This showed who was really capable of multitasking:

  • Open the gate, open the gate, drive in, close the gate, close the gate, open the gate at the exit, drain the water, open the gate, drive out, close the gate, close the gate – a real lock ballet!
Some teams mastered this with precision, others with lots of laughter and wet feet.

After around 10 kilometers and a few “Where is Team 4?” moments, the boats arrived back at the Krumos canoe base with a clear gap between them. Exhausted but happy, they headed back to the company – where the caterer was already waiting.

Barbecue enjoyment and great moments - A festive finale with a tribute to our long-standing employees

Before the aroma of freshly grilled meat and vegetarian delicacies wafted across the company premises, it became very quiet – and very emotional. Because before the relaxed part of the summer party began, the management took time to honor three very special people: Colleagues who have contributed to the success of AVMS GmbH for many years with heart, commitment and reliability.

Laura from Sales, Christian from Project Management and Steven from Scheduling were presented with great applause and visible emotion. Each of them received an individually designed, framed certificate of honor – as a visible sign of appreciation and thanks for their many years of loyalty and tireless commitment.

Laura is celebrating her She is celebrating her 20th anniversary at AVMS – an impressive journey in which she has not only looked after countless customers, but also shaped the company with her positive nature and organizational talent. Her colleagues appreciate her for her reliability, her helpful nature – and her legendary USB stick stash on her desk.

Christian, since project manager for 15 years, is known for his steady hand even in stormy project phases. When others get nervous, he remains calm – and always finds a solution. Whether it’s a trade fair, event or special project: Christian has seen and mastered everything. His dry sense of humor is at least as valuable as his experience.

Steven, also since He has been part of the team for 15 years and, as logistics manager, pulls the strings in the background. It’s not a job for the faint-hearted. Steven masters it with an overview, clarity – and a calendar that probably knows more secrets than any safe.

The award was a moving moment – not only for the three honorees, but for the entire team. After all, they are representative of what AVMS is all about: solidarity, reliability and the joy of working together.

After the presentation of the certificates and a group photo with much applause, the culinary part of the evening began. With the smell of a barbecue, cool drinks and lots of conversation, we celebrated, laughed and toasted to the next few years together.

The barbecue evening was the perfect finale: juicy steaks, vegetarian delicacies, salads, dips and a dessert buffet that brought even the most paddle-weary colleagues back to life. Over cool drinks and relaxed conversation, there was much laughter, new nicknames were given (“Schleusen-Schorsch”, “Paddel-Prinzessin”) and plans were already being made for the next summer party.

The Summer Festival 2025 was a complete success – a day full of nature, team spirit and culinary highlights. The Lahn not only carried us, but also connected us. And who knows: maybe next year there will be a race with water wings?
