AVMS at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 - Technology meets literature

When the world of books gathers in Frankfurt once a year to celebrate stories, ideas and innovations, one thing is certain: without AVMS, it would be pretty quiet, dark and offline. In 2025, the AVMS GmbH team was once again in full force – and not just with cables, trusses and LED spotlights, but with heart, brain and humor. A big thank you to the organizers of the book fair and the stand construction company imb Troschke for the trust they have placed in us over the years and the wonderful cooperation at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2025. It is a pleasure and an honor for us to be part of this cultural highlight – where stories come to life and technology creates the framework for inspiration. Together, we created spaces that not only functioned, but also inspired. Thank you for the stage – we played it with passion.

Clear the stage for the technical heroes - professional support for the 11 presentation stages.

A total of eleven official stages at the Frankfurt Book Fair were equipped by AVMS – with everything an event could wish for: rigging, lighting, audio and streaming technology. While authors, publishers and presenters prepared for their appearances, AVMS ensured that every word was heard, every face seen and every emotion captured.

Some stages even broadcast their program live to the world – and who was in the control room? AVMS, of course. The post-production? Also AVMS. When it comes to professional media work, the team is not just a service provider, but a creative co-creator.

In addition, numerous exhibition stands of all sizes were once again equipped with technology. From individual monitors to large LED walls.

The Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 was a complete success – not least thanks to AVMS GmbH. With a team that not only understands technology, but also people, a trade fair became an experience. And while the books tell the stories, AVMS ensures that you can hear, see and feel them.

Jennifer & Laura – the good souls of technology

Customer inquiries? Special requests? Spontaneous changes? No problem for Jennifer and Laura. With an open ear and a cool head, they made sure that equipment and service were in the right place at the right time. Whether it was a microphone for the reading or a monitor for the panel discussion – they had everything under control. And if something was missing, they organized it before anyone could say “book fair”.

Alex – the planner with the technology compass

Anyone who thinks that technology is simply set up has not yet met Alex. With his precise eye for processes, requirements and schedules, he planned the majority of the projects – from the first cable to the last truss. His motto: “When it’s running, nobody notices how much work is behind it.” And it worked. Smoothly. Almost suspiciously well.

Brondt – the coordinator with an overview

Eleven stages, dozens of technicians, hundreds of devices – and one man who keeps track of everything: Brondt. He coordinated the use of technicians during set-up and ensured that each stage was manned by the right team at the right time. A bit like a conductor, only with a radio instead of a baton.

Steven – the warehouse brain with empties genius

When the last applause has died away, the real show begins for Steven: the dismantling. With stoic calm and logistical mastery, he directed technicians and helpers across the huge exhibition grounds. Equipment was collected from around 90 trade fair stands – and thanks to Steven’s pre-sorting during packing, the return to the warehouse went faster than a bestseller over the counter.

Logistics with literary volume

By the evening of the dismantling, six 7.5-ton trucks, two 3.5-ton trucks and a 12-ton truck with trailer were already rolling back to Sulzbach. The loads? A poem of trusses, loudspeakers, LED spotlights and cables. And because AVMS is not only fast, but also thorough, two more 7.5-ton trucks and another 12-ton trailer were loaded and unloaded on the following days.

What AVMS achieves at the book fair is not only technical precision, but also organizational master class. The combination of planning, communication and experience ensures that even the most complex projects run like a well-written screenplay – with suspense, structure and a happy ending.

A team like an ensemble from a novel

What would a novel be without its characters? And what would AVMS be without its team? Every single one of them – from project management to the warehouse – helps to ensure that events like the book fair not only work, but also inspire. With passion, professionalism and a pinch of humor.

Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024 with further growth for technology service providers with technology HUB

This year, AVMS set up an impressive 15 lecture stages at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2024, ensured accurate pre-planning of the lectures, their recording and, in some cases, live broadcasting. In addition, around 180 exhibition stands were supplied with technology. Once again, well over 200 monitors and dozens of audio systems were installed in the exhibition halls and outdoor areas.

Professional support for the 15 presentation stages and the Pavilion during the entire duration of the trade fair.

Frankfurter Buchmesse 2023 is celebrating its 76th edition this year. Italy will be Guest of Honor and present its literature and culture under the motto “Rooted in the Future”. The Book Fair Pavilion was also back on the Agora in front of Hall 3.

This mammoth project, which takes place over five days in October, involves six months of preparation and planning, full of calculations, arrangements and fine-tuning. Our planning leads to implementation by a total of 80 employees who work on site and in the warehouse to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

For the second time, our technology HUB trade fair container was used on P3, where technology could still be rented during the trade fair or colleagues were available to answer questions.

We received high praise from the organizers for our consistently convincing service. That is why we have rightly continued to be the official service provider of the Frankfurt Book Fair for 26 years.

Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 with record number of orders for technology service provider with technology HUB

This year, AVMS set up an impressive 10 lecture stages at Frankfurter Buchmesse 2023, ensured accurate pre-planning of the lectures, their recording and, in some cases, live broadcasting. In addition, around 180 exhibition stands were supplied with technology. More than 200 monitors and dozens of audio systems were installed in the exhibition halls and open-air areas. From the Steinway concert grand piano to red carpets and staff catering, we really delivered everything to the trade fair this time.

Frankfurter Buchmesse 2023 celebrates its 75th edition this year. Slovenia is the guest of honor and presents its literature and culture under the motto “Honeycombs of Words”. The Book Fair Pavilion was also back on the Agora in front of Hall 3.

Evening event in the Pavilion at the 2022 Book Fair

Exuberant mood at an evening event in the Pavilion at the 2022 Book Fair

The beautiful light show and great sound during the evening event at the book fair delighted the guests. The event was recorded and broadcast live on ARTE television.

Lighting control, sound reinforcement and video recording from one competent source

Since 2018, the Pavilion has been an institution at the Book Fair. It is used for readings, interviews and all kinds of events. The Pavilion is reusable and will be stored during the Book Fair-free period. In mid-May 2023, the iF Design Award 2023 was ceremoniously presented at Berlin’s Friedrichstadt-Palast. The gold trophy of the prestigious design award in the category “Public Architecture” went to the building designed by schneider+schumacher Frankfurt Pavilion designed for the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Readings, interviews and discussions take place in the Pavilion in the mornings and afternoons, but in the evenings things can get a bit heated. To provide a setting for an exuberant trade show party, a few upgrades were installed to the standard equipment.

A disco ball was mounted under the ceiling, which was illuminated in phases. A large number of spotlights and spotlights created a beautiful party ambience. The beautiful lighting effects were controlled with grandMA lighting consoles.

In addition to the two existing LED walls, a third was placed behind the stage. Additional speakers provided a bit more oomph.

In order to be able to reliably guarantee the assembly and dismantling as well as the support, eight colleagues, as planners, structural engineers, technicians and helpers, were in action.

Frankfurt Book Fair 2019 with a long tradition and anniversary

AVMS has been supporting organizers and exhibitors with state-of-the-art media technology for stages and exhibition stands for many years.

Long-term partnership thanks to professional communication and the best service at the Frankfurt Book Fair

The 2019 Frankfurt Book Fair is now celebrating 500 years of tradition, making it almost as old as book printing itself.

The book fair had its beginnings in Frankfurt’s old town. Over time, the fair grew, the international interest grew and so did the venue. The Frankfurt Book Fair grew out of the Paulskirche, so that from 1949 it could feel at home on the Frankfurt exhibition grounds. Like the size, the content and structure evolved over time.

It all started with readings.
Marcel Reich-Ranicki, proactive and open to discussion, equalized the one-sided reading atmosphere and thus created space for dialogue. Increasingly, authors and scientists were offered a stage on which they could engage in exchange with readers and interested parties. Since 1993, the Frankfurt Book Fair has been opening up to electronic media in addition to conventional book printing, thus actively promoting digitisation and progress.

Not only poets and thinkers are offered a stage here. Celebrities, artists and politicians also present their works here to the whole world. The B2B function and thus the bringing together of authors and publishers has long since ceased to be the only thing the Frankfurt Book Fair is about. On two days of the fair, the gates will also be opened to the public, so that everyone can participate in the fascination of reading.

In order to live this experience with all senses, the technical background and thus also we as 360° event technology service provider, become indispensable. Because as times have changed, it is not only the book that has evolved as the focal point of the fair, but also the way it is staged.
