The world of corporate events is moving faster than ever. Anyone organizing a company anniversary, a groundbreaking conference, or a glamorous gala today knows this: The success of the event hinges entirely on its technical execution. If the microphone feedback during the CEO’s pitch or the presentation on the screen fading in bright daylight, even the most exquisite catering won’t be enough to make up for the damage to the company’s reputation. That’s exactly why decision-makers, event managers, and agencies must Planning Event Technology for 2025 Successfully. It’s no longer just about a few hastily set-up spotlights and creaking speakers; it’s about immersive experiences, seamless hybrid integration, and absolute reliability at an engineering level. This guide takes you on a technically fascinating journey behind the scenes and shows you how, with the right hardware knowledge and a dash of passion, you can turn your next B2B event into a true masterpiece.

Event Technology 2025: Perfect Sound for B2B Events

Acoustic perception is the unsung hero of every successful event. If we are to successfully plan event technology for 2025, we must make a clear distinction between pure speech intelligibility and dynamic music reinforcement. For a keynote speech or panel discussion, crystal-clear, present sound in the frequency range of the human voice is essential. This is where discreet yet highly precise column speakers shine, as they direct sound toward the audience at ear level without unnecessarily exciting the ceiling. However, if the event transitions seamlessly into a gala with a live band, we need the physical power and wide dispersion of line-array systems. To avoid unpleasant echo effects and muddy sound in the back rows in deep rooms, experienced sound engineers integrate so-called delay lines—time-delayed support speakers that deliver the audio signal in exact sync with the direct sound from the main stage.

Equally critical is the choice of microphone, as it serves as the direct interface between the speaker and the audio equipment. While a dynamic CEO might prefer the freedom of movement offered by a discreet, skin-colored headset microphone, guest speakers often feel more comfortable with a classic wireless handheld microphone or a permanently installed gooseneck microphone on the lectern. The key here lies in the choice of capsule and polar pattern: A supercardioid pattern elegantly filters out distracting ambient noise on stage and minimizes the risk of feedback. It is this attention to electroacoustic detail that ultimately determines whether a message merely reaches the audience—or whether it truly resonates with them.

But even the best hardware is of little use without an invisible yet crucial foundation: on-site frequency management. In an age when the digital spectrum is increasingly congested by LTE, 5G, and countless Wi-Fi networks, operating dozens of radio links is like playing a complex game of chess. Professional event technicians meticulously scan the venue’s RF (radio frequency) environment in advance and assign intermodulation-free frequencies to every handheld transmitter, headset, and in-ear monitoring system. This digital precision work guarantees that the audio will still be transmitted absolutely interference-free and in studio quality, even if a thousand guests pull out their smartphones at the same time.

Video Technology & LEDs: 3 Pro Tips for Visual Highlights

Visual brilliance is the hallmark of modern B2B events, and technological advancements in this area have made breathtaking strides in recent years. The age-old debate between traditional projection and self-illuminating LED walls is now usually decided by the lighting conditions in the room and the desired contrast range. While projectors still excel at producing soft, cinematic images in darkened halls, LED systems are the only viable option for events held in daylight or in brightly lit exhibition halls. The decisive factor here is the pixel pitch. For a conference where the audience is seated close to the stage, a fine pixel pitch of 1.5 to 2.5 millimeters is essential to ensure that Excel spreadsheets and detailed graphics remain razor-sharp. Feel free to take a look at the wide variety of innovative LED modules and custom-fit solutions to understand just how flexibly these high-end tiles can be assembled today into seamless, gigantic display surfaces.

The true heart of the video technology, however, beats behind the scenes: in the control room. A huge display is only as good as the signal feeding it. High-performance video mixers and media servers handle the complex signal management, scale different resolutions in real time, and enable so-called seamless switching between PowerPoint presentations, promotional videos, and live camera feeds. A black screen during a speaker change is an absolute no-go. By using professional cue systems and preview monitors at the lectern (presenter displays), speakers always maintain control over their slides and the remaining speaking time. For special architectural “wow” effects, visual signals can also be mapped onto custom-designed shapes—a fantastic example of this is the use of impressive LED rotundas that completely redefine the space visually.

Not least, the modern workplace is forcing us to organically integrate hybrid events and streaming concepts into live production. If you want to successfully plan event technology for 2025, online participants must enjoy the same high-quality experience as the guests in the venue. This requires networked camera rigs or discreet, remotely controllable PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras that capture the action from various angles without getting in the way. Live encoding converts these high-resolution SDI signals into low-latency data streams for platforms such as Teams, Zoom, or dedicated event apps. At the same time, sophisticated audio routing (N-1 switching) is required to ensure that remote speakers can be heard crystal-clear in the venue without having to endure their own echo in their headphones.

Effective Lighting Design: How to Create the Perfect Atmosphere

Light is far more than just the opposite of darkness; it is the most powerful emotional tool at our disposal in event architecture. The foundation of any professional lighting design is the front lighting for the stage and the speakers. This involves far more than just brightness. The color temperature (measured in Kelvin) and the color rendering index (CRI) of the profile spotlights and step lenses must be precisely calibrated to make skin tones appear natural and healthy. At the same time, the light must be shaped and glare-reduced so that it does not blind the speakers, does not shine directly into the audience’s eyes, and provides the camera sensor with enough photons to generate a noise-free, brilliant image for the stream. It is a delicate balancing act between camera physics and human well-being.

Once the basic functional lighting is in place, the magic of ambient lighting begins. Sober concrete walls or sterile exhibition halls can be transformed into warm, inviting spaces through strategic uplighting (floor spotlights that illuminate the walls from below). By using modern RGBAW-UV LED spotlights, the colors of the corporate design can be reproduced in the space with absolute color accuracy. This subtle integration of the brand identity strengthens guests’ sense of belonging without coming across as intrusive. The lighting creates zones, directs the audience’s gaze specifically toward product highlights or catering areas, and thus structures the psychological flow of the entire event.

True mastery is evident in the spatial dynamics and kinetic elements. Static lighting tires the eye over time; dynamic lighting keeps attention high. Through gentle transitions, moving lights that project patterns onto the floor during a walk-in, or subtle adjustments in brightness during a presentation, the space literally breathes in sync with the program’s flow. Those who also want to draw guests’ gaze upward can blend lighting and video technology, as is the case with spectacular ceiling and special installations. Such three-dimensional worlds of light and imagery break away from the traditional stage setup and completely immerse the audience in the brand’s world.

Event Technology 2025: Safety & Power Supply

Behind all the visual and acoustic splendor lies the unsung backbone of every corporate event: rigging, structural engineering, and the electrical infrastructure. Anyone who wants to successfully plan event technology in 2025 must never underestimate the mechanical and electrical fundamentals. Often, several metric tons of truss systems, speakers, spotlights, and LED modules hang above the audience’s heads. The load distribution at the suspension points on the hall ceiling must be calculated by certified structural engineers and installed by experienced riggers with millimeter-level precision using state-of-the-art chain hoists. Physics tolerates no mistakes here, and the bending moments of aluminum trusses are an exact science in their own right.

The electrical infrastructure is just as critical. A modern setup consumes enormous amounts of electrical energy, especially when large LED walls and hundreds of spotlights are turned on simultaneously. Meticulous three-phase power planning, the distribution of phases to avoid unbalanced loads, and the installation of hundreds of meters of thick power cables in trip-free cable bridges are absolutely essential. For business-critical events where a power outage would have catastrophic consequences for the stream or presentation, expert planners design redundant systems with uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and synchronized emergency generators. This ensures that the projector stays on and the microphone remains active, even if the local power grid temporarily fails.

All of these technical marvels are subject to strict legal standards in Germany, foremost among them DGUV Regulation 17/18 (formerly BGV C1) for event and production venues. These regulations define safety requirements for lifting gear, the dual securing (safety measures) of suspended loads, and the regular inspection of electrical systems (DGUV V3). A reputable technical partner not only provides the latest equipment but also the corresponding inspection logs, risk assessments, and certified event technology specialists who assume legal responsibility on-site for safe operation. Safety is not a budget item that can be cut—it is the non-negotiable foundation for carefree celebrations and conferences.

Practical Checklist: How to Successfully Plan Event Technology

The journey from the initial idea to the applause at the end of the event is an organizational marathon. If you want to successfully plan event technology for 2025, it all starts with an early and thorough site inspection. Long before the first cable diagram is drawn up, the venue’s logistical bottlenecks must be identified: Are there elevators large enough for flight cases? Is the ceiling load capacity sufficient for the desired rigging? Where are the high-voltage power connections, and what are the room’s natural acoustics like? Only by precisely understanding the physical limitations and possibilities of the space can you design a technical concept that will function smoothly during setup and avoid costly surprises on production day.

The second step involves the coordinated collaboration of the various disciplines. Audio, video, and lighting must not be planned in isolated silos but must be understood as an integrated ecosystem. This means, for example, that the lighting designer must know exactly where the video technician is placing the screens to avoid stray light. The sound engineer must know the location of the loud fans from media servers so as not to place them right next to the sensitive speaker microphones. A detailed CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawing, in which all trusses, cable routes, and the audience’s lines of sight are simulated in three dimensions, is now the standard tool for elegantly resolving these interdisciplinary interfaces.

The final—and often most underestimated—component of planning is time. A technically demanding event requires sufficient buffer time for setup, lighting checks, sound checks, and, above all, rehearsals. If the CEO can rehearse his presentation on stage in advance using the final clicker and the actual preview monitor, everyone’s stress levels drop dramatically. These rehearsal times are also essential for testing complex media plays—such as the seamless coordination of dynamic LED banners with media server feeds, where video content must be synchronized to the musical beats down to the second. Cutting corners here is definitely a mistake.

A Guide for Decision-Makers: Your Path to a Successful Event

As a CEO, marketing director, or HR manager, you view an event primarily through a strategic lens: it’s about return on investment (ROI), brand loyalty, and emotional messaging. Yet all of these goals are inextricably linked to the technology behind the scenes. It’s a fallacy to believe that event technology is merely a necessary expense. Rather, it’s the emotional amplifier of your corporate identity. Crystal-clear sound and a brilliant image subconsciously signal the highest level of professionalism, innovation, and appreciation to your guests and customers. A technical failure, on the other hand, erodes trust faster than even the best PR department can repair it.

Choosing the right technology partner is therefore a strategic decision that goes far beyond simply comparing the prices on material lists. Look for full-service providers who don’t just move boxes around, but combine engineering expertise with creative vision. An excellent partner will critically scrutinize your briefing, explain complex concepts such as pixel pitches or network topologies in plain language, and develop customized solutions that are precisely tailored to your budget and target audience. Transparency in pricing, dedicated points of contact (project managers), and proven expertise in the form of references from the B2B sector are the key factors you should look for when awarding a contract.

Looking ahead, complexity will continue to increase. Artificial intelligence in signal processing, more sustainable and energy-efficient generations of hardware, and the seamless convergence of physical and virtual spaces (metaverse approaches) will shape the industry in the coming years. Decision-makers who adapt to this transformation and successfully plan their event technology for 2025 will gain a massive competitive advantage. They will not only create simple meetings or conferences, but also distinctive platforms for human and business interaction that reflect the spirit of the times and leave a lasting positive impression.

A corporate event is always a promise to your guests, partners, and employees—a promise of professionalism, visionary leadership, and genuine appreciation. If you Planning Event Technology for 2025 Successfully, transform cold exhibition halls or austere conference rooms into vibrant, emotional worlds of experience that leave a lasting impression. With the perfect blend of acoustic precision, visual brilliance on state-of-the-art LED screens, atmospheric lighting, and uncompromising mechanical safety, you lay the foundation for B2B communication that truly resonates. Rely on in-depth engineering expertise, bold creative concepts, and technology partners who passionately bring your business vision to life. This way, your next event will be far more than just a date on the calendar—it will become a true, dazzling industry highlight.

Anyone who still tries to impress visitors at an international trade show today with flat, strictly rectangular screens is tilting at architectural windmills. The audience’s viewing habits have changed: organic shapes, fluid movements, and immersive spatial concepts dominate modern booth design. This is exactly where our theme comes in: Curved LED Screens in 2025: The Trade Show Guide. Where rigid boundaries once restricted creative freedom, highly flexible diode carpets now shape genuine experiences. Yet behind the visual magic of a perfect wave or a floating 360-degree column lies tangible, uncompromising engineering. This article takes you on a journey through the physical feasibility, the pitfalls of structural engineering, and the secrets of pixel-precise synchronization—so that your next trade show installation not only looks great but also functions brilliantly from a technical standpoint.

Curved LED Walls in Practice: Mechanics & Feasibility

When we talk about bending light, we are essentially battling the physics of rigid circuit boards. The mechanical implementation of convex (outwardly curved) or concave (inwardly curved) shapes requires intelligent hardware solutions. The most common approach in professional trade show construction is the use of faceted standard cabinets. Here, conventional, rigid LED tiles are connected to one another using special angle connectors or integrated Curve-Lock systems. Through a fine grid—often in increments of -5 to +5 degrees per cabinet—a curve is created that, from a technical perspective, consists of many small polygons. From a certain viewing distance, these facets merge into a perfect, seamless curve as perceived by the human eye.

But what happens when the radius becomes extremely tight or the architecture requires a smooth S-curve? This is where faceted systems reach their mechanical limits. The solution lies in the use of flexible soft modules. With this technology, the LEDs are mounted on a flexible PCB (printed circuit board) that is protected by a rubberized mask. These modules are usually secured with strong magnets to a precisely prefabricated, curved substructure made of steel or aluminum. This makes it possible to create organic shapes that would simply be impossible with rigid cabinets.

The decision between faceted Curve-Locks and true soft modules is always a matter of balancing budget, required radius, and mechanical durability. While standard cabinets with a Curve mechanism are often faster to rig and more durable in daily tour use, soft modules offer the ultimate architectural freedom. To find the right setup for your specific spatial concept, it’s worth taking a closer look at the wide variety of LED modules and solutions available on today’s market for high-end installations.

5 Creative Formats for Modern Trade Show Installations

The move away from the 16:9 aspect ratio has ushered in an era of sculptural interior design. One of the most popular designs is the so-called “wave wall.” These gently curving S-shapes not only serve as giant digital screens but also function as an architectural wayfinding system that intuitively guides the flow of visitors toward the center of the exhibition booth. This concept is often complemented by organically shaped digital banners that replace rigid trade show panels and lend the booth a dynamic, wraparound aura. Especially with such flowing banners, the synergy between hardware and LED banners—along with their seamless media server playback —is absolutely crucial for the visual flow.

Another masterpiece of modern trade show architecture is the 360-degree column and ring, often referred to as a rotunda. A convex cylindrical installation in the center of a booth creates a visual beacon that is visible from every direction within the exhibition hall. Whether as a massive, floor-standing cylinder or a floating ring above visitors’ heads—these formats break away from traditional frontal presentation and force content creators to think in terms of endless loops and true spatial dimensions. An outstanding example of the space-defining effect of such formats is a professionally executed, impressive LED rotunda.

Ceiling cubes and immersive tunnel installations are no less spectacular. Seamless 90-degree exterior corners, created using special corner modules, form floating cubes that can be used for three-dimensional projections. Tunnel installations take the concept even further: Here, curved walls flow seamlessly into the ceiling and completely envelop the visitor. Such setups create an unparalleled sense of immersion but require the utmost precision in joint alignment to ensure that the optical illusion of the digital space is not ruined by gaping gaps.

Professional Design for Curved LED Walls: Structural Analysis & Radii

Selecting the correct pixel pitch (pixel spacing) for curved walls is a science in itself. The finer the pitch, the more sensitive the circuit boards are to mechanical stress. In addition, the viewer’s viewing angle constantly changes on curved surfaces. A radius that is too tight, combined with the wrong pixel pitch, can lead to an extreme moiré effect when filmed, as the grid pattern of the LEDs interferes with the grid of the camera sensor. Planners must therefore calculate precisely where the visitor will stand and what minimum radii the selected hardware allows without distorting the image or overloading the circuit boards.

When it comes to non-standard shapes, gravity is an impartial force. A curved LED wall has a completely different center of gravity than a flat wall. In suspended installations, the asymmetry of the curves creates torsional forces that act on the trussing. The rigging loads must be calculated in three dimensions to prevent the structure from tipping over or twisting dangerously. Even with floor-standing systems, the structural analysis is more complex: The substructure must safely transfer the wind loads (yes, even exhibition halls have drafts) and the immense dead weight of the modules through the legs into the hall floor.

Integration into traditional exhibition stand construction requires precision work down to the millimeter. When high-tech LEDs meet standard trade show grid systems (such as Octanorm) or custom carpentry, the interface determines success. Tolerances in trade show construction are often in the range of centimeters, whereas LED modules tolerate gap dimensions of less than one millimeter. Special adapter plates, adjustable mounts, and meticulous CAD planning in advance are essential for seamlessly and tension-free integration of the curved modules into the wood or aluminum architecture.

Content Mapping: Precise Feeding for Special Shapes

Once the hardware is in place, the digital magic begins—and so does the real challenge for video technology. Curved, circular, or wave-shaped LED installations don’t care about standard resolutions like Full HD or 4K. We’re talking about “Custom Canvas” here—that is, pixel canvases that can be defined with complete freedom. An S-curve, for example, can have an absurd resolution of 9,456 x 1,152 pixels. These massive, unconventional display surfaces must be split up, routed, and reassembled in perfect synchronization during signal processing—without causing frame drops or tearing.

The brains behind this pixel battle are powerful media servers. Systems such as Disguise, Dataton WATCHOUT, or Resolume Arena represent the state of the art for running such complex setups. They capture the produced content and distribute it via a variety of outputs to the LED controllers (e.g., from Novastar or Brompton). These controllers then map the signal with pinpoint accuracy to the individual cabinets. The media server ensures that the geometry of the curve is precisely replicated in the software, so that a ball rolling from left to right in the video retains its natural speed and shape on the physical curve.

It becomes particularly challenging with closed 3D shapes such as cylinders or rings. This is where UV mapping comes into play. Content creators must virtually “unwrap” the three-dimensional shape, much like peeling paper off a tin can. If a logo is displayed on a convex column, it must be deliberately pre-distorted (compressed) in the video file. Only then will it appear proportionally correct again to the viewer in space. This synergy of spatial imagination and pixel-precise mapping is what distinguishes a mediocre presentation from a breathtaking visual experience.

Mechanical Protection & Thermal Management in 360-Degree Systems

An often underestimated risk with curved installations is the mechanical exposure of the modules. Especially with convex (outwardly curved) walls and columns, the edges of the LED modules are exposed to the surrounding space. While the modules are protected side by side on a flat wall, the gaps at the front open slightly on convex curves. Here, the choice of LED encapsulation is essential. Traditional SMD LEDs (Surface Mounted Devices) are extremely susceptible to impact. For such special shapes, professionals are increasingly relying on GOB (Glue on Board) or COB (Chip on Board) technology. In these designs, the diodes are sealed with a layer of epoxy resin or adhesive, which not only makes them resistant to being bumped by trade show visitors but also makes cleaning them much easier.

An even more critical factor, one that is deeply rooted in physics, is thermal behavior. LEDs generate heat—and in enclosed 360-degree cylinders, rings, or thick, double-sided curved walls, this heat builds up inside. Since warm air rises, an enclosed LED cylinder quickly turns into a chimney without a flue. When diodes overheat, they rapidly lose brightness, color accuracy shifts toward red, and in the worst case, premature hardware failure threatens due to burned-out power supplies.

The solution lies in intelligent airflow management. When designing custom shapes, it is essential to incorporate ventilation slots, chimney effects in the substructure, or even active cooling systems (ultra-quiet fans). The challenge is to dissipate heat without generating disruptive background noise that interferes with conversations at the booth. Conducting thermal simulations in advance separates the wheat from the chaff and ensures that the installation will still shine in all its glory even on the sweltering fifth day of the trade show.

2025 Checklist: Effectively Implementing Curved LED Walls

The most important advice for planners is this: The LED wall is not an afterthought; it is the architecture. A successful implementation begins months before the trade show in CAD software. Trade show builders, riggers, and video technicians must all work from the same digital 3D model. Only by reconciling the structural integrity of the mounting points, the radii of the available LED modules, and the tolerances of the wooden substructure early on can you avoid unpleasant surprises during on-site setup. Every carelessly planned centimeter will come back to haunt you later in the form of visible black gaps in the image.

In parallel with the hardware, the content pipeline must be started extremely early. Motion designers cannot work based on vague estimates. From day one, they need an exact pixel map (the so-called “canvas template”) from the video engineering department. This template not only specifies the absurdly high total resolution but also marks “safe zones,” fold lines, and the physical radii of the wall. The more complex the curve, the more time must be allocated for pre-rendering and test runs on the media server.

Ultimately, the success of the project hinges on choosing the right technology partner. You don’t need a company that just moves boxes around; you need specialists who understand mechanics, IT, video signal processing, and trade show construction as a holistic ecosystem. A look at the extensive list of references for complex LED installations will help you identify service providers who have already successfully mastered the transition from theory to millimeter-precise practice and will bring your project to life with technical finesse and a cool head.

Curved LED Walls 2025: The trade show guide clearly shows that the future of live communication is fluid, immersive, and three-dimensional. The shift away from rigid rectangles opens up unprecedented creative freedom for brands to draw visitors into their worlds. At the same time, this freedom requires the highest level of engineering precision—from static calculations of rig loads to thermal management inside the modules, right down to pixel-precise UV mapping on high-performance media servers. Those who take these technical challenges seriously and collaborate with experienced partners early in the planning process will not only stand out at the next trade show but will also leave a lasting impression. The technology is ready for your boldest visions—now it’s up to you to reshape the space.

There’s that one magical moment at every trade show: The hall lights dim gently, the first visitors stream through the aisles, and suddenly your booth glows with colors so brilliant that even the coffee cup in the marketing director’s hand reflects them. A professional LED wall is no longer just a visual element—it is the pulsating visual centerpiece of a modern brand presentation. But when glowing semiconductors collide with the harsh reality of the trade show, millimeters, nits, and amperes determine the difference between a cinematic brand presentation and an embarrassing pixel failure.

Anyone who has ever experienced how an incorrectly calculated electrical load blew the fuses in half the exhibition hall, or how an inappropriate pixel pitch turned a lovingly produced promotional video into a coarse-meshed flyscreen, knows: LED technology is a fusion of advanced engineering and uncompromising physics. It’s all about thermal dynamics, precise rigging calculations, sub-millimeter tolerances in module locking, and color space calibrations that even seasoned colorists rave about.

This technical guide walks you through the process—expertly, thoroughly, and with just the right touch of industry charm. Whether you’re an AV designer calculating the final safety margins, an exhibition stand builder looking for seamless curves, or a marketing manager aiming to get the most out of your budget: We shed light on the physical and architectural factors and show you, step by step, how to set up your LED wall so it’s technically flawless and visually stunning.

Precisely Calculate Pixel Pitch and Viewing Distance

The pixel pitch—that is, the center-to-center distance between two adjacent LEDs in millimeters—is the fundamental parameter of every LED wall. It not only determines the physical resolution of the display but also directly influences the cost structure and the visual experience of your visitors. A smaller pitch means more diodes per square meter, a higher pixel density, and consequently a razor-sharp image even at close range. However, if you stand too close to a screen with a pitch that’s too large, the human eye can make out the individual pixels: The image breaks down into a distracting grid, and the dreaded moiré effect distorts perception. From a technical standpoint, it is therefore essential to harmoniously align the threshold of visual acuity (the so-called visual acuity limit of the eye) with the geometric module structure.

In event technology, the following formula has become the golden rule of thumb for the minimum viewing distance: Minimum distance (in meters) = pixel pitch (in mm) × 1.0 to 1.5. With a pixel pitch of 2.6 mm, the pixels begin to blend together seamlessly at a distance of approximately 2.6 to 3.9 meters. When displaying text, complex CAD visualizations, or high-resolution 4K content loops, the balance tends to shift toward the factor-1 value. The physics behind this is based on the resolving power of the human retina, which, at a normal visual acuity of 1.0, perceives two points as separate when their angular separation is approximately one arcminute or greater. If the viewer gets closer than this distance, the structure of the SMD or COB LEDs becomes visible, which instantly destroys the visual immersion.

At the trade show booth, this calculation must be carefully aligned with the booth design and the traffic flow areas of the exhibition hall. If the LED wall is positioned directly at the edge of the aisle, where passersby walk by at a distance of just 1.5 meters, a fine-pitch system with a pitch of less than 1.8 mm is mandatory. If, on the other hand, the wall is mounted as an imposing headline feature four meters above the double-decker and faces the audience in the main aisle, an ultra-high-resolution 1.2-mm pitch would be astronomically expensive overkill. Here, you’re wasting valuable budget that could be invested in better content or adaptive lighting. The art of professional AV planning, therefore, lies in precisely mapping the target audience’s primary field of view and tailoring the pixel pitch to it with pinpoint accuracy.

Reference Matrix: Pixel Pitch, Resolution, and Viewing Distance

Pixel pitch (mm)

Min. viewing distance

Optimal viewing distance

Density (pixels/m²)

Typical applications

0.9 mm (COB/Micro-LED)

approx. 0.9 m

1.5–2.5 m

1,234,567

High-end control rooms, luxury trade show booths, close-range displays

1.2 mm (fine pitch)

approx. 1.2 m

2.0–3.5 m

694,444

Exclusive indoor lounges, detailed presentations, text screens

1.5 mm / 1.8 mm

approx. 1.5 – 1.8 m

2.5 – 4.5 m

444,444 / 308,641

Elevated exhibition booth, close to the main aisles

2.6 mm (Standard Event)

approx. 2.6 m

4.0 – 7.0 m

147,928

The Classic: Main exhibition walls, stage backdrops, keynote presentations

3.9 mm (Outdoor/Indoor XL)

approx. 3.9 m

6.0 – 10.0 m

65,536

Large festival stages, long-range coverage, outdoor areas, indoor ceilings

Comparing LED Modules: 1.5 mm vs. 2.6 mm Pitch

When it comes to selecting specific modules for professional trade show construction, the final decision surprisingly often boils down to a choice between “1.5 mm and 2.6 mm.” The 1.5 mm pitch represents the fine-pitch panel class and primarily uses highly advanced SMD (Surface Mounted Device) LEDs or state-of-the-art COB (Chip-on-Board) technology. With COB, the bare LED chips are bonded directly to the circuit board and sealed with a protective resin layer. This ensures dramatically greater break resistance along the module edges, deeper black levels, and outstanding contrast ratios. This design is the scalpel of the screen world: finely tuned, precise, and perfectly suited for displaying delicate typography, intricate UI interfaces, or detailed product displays without visible stair-step effects.

On the other side of the ring stands the undisputed champion of everyday event operations: the 2.6 mm module. It’s the Swiss Army knife of AV service providers. Why? Because it offers the perfect balance of robust construction, excellent light output, quick setup, and cost-effectiveness. A 2.6 mm cabinet can even withstand a rough handle during setup and requires significantly less processing power from the scaling processors. For example, to display a full Full HD image (1920 × 1080 pixels) natively using a pixel-to-pixel method, a 1.5 mm wall requires an area of only about 2.88 × 1.62 meters. With a 2.6 mm pitch, this pixel grid scales to approximately 5.00 × 2.81 meters. This difference impressively demonstrates how strongly the hardware architecture shapes the spatial installation concept.

The decision between the two systems ultimately comes down to balancing budget, logistics, and aesthetic preferences. While the 1.5 mm system, due to its higher diode density, places greater demands on processing (e.g., Novastar Armor or Brompton Tessera) and the mechanical flatness of the substructure, the 2.6 mm system excels with quick, nearly foolproof installation via click-lock housings. Those who need to stay within budget but still cover large areas should choose 2.6 mm for its visual impact from a distance. Those who want to impress their customers with high-tech solutions during a face-to-face conversation at a distance of 100 cm should opt for 1.5 mm or smaller without hesitation. It’s the difference between an impressive wall decoration and an interactive precision instrument.

Ambient Light and Nits: Indoor vs. Outdoor LEDs

The physical luminance of an LED wall is measured in nits, which corresponds exactly to one candela per square meter ($cd/m^2$). This value determines whether your content shines brilliantly or gets lost in the ambient light of the exhibition hall. Typical exhibition halls are visually challenging environments: high-output HQI floodlights, bright truss spotlights, and wide glass roofs flood the booths with ambient brightness levels ranging from 500 to 1,500 lux. An indoor LED module is designed by default for a luminance of 800 to 1,200 nits. This is more than enough to produce rich colors and deep contrasts even under the brightest hall lighting—provided that the panels’ black level calibration is correct and direct reflections from powerful profile spotlights are avoided.

Outdoor LEDs are in a league of their own: They deliver a staggering 4,500 to 8,000 nits to shine through even direct, blinding sunlight. If you were to operate such an outdoor display wall at full power in an enclosed exhibition hall, the result would be unbearable: Visitors would need sunglasses, and the wall’s heat radiation would turn the booth into a dry sauna. Nevertheless, outdoor modules are sometimes used in outdoor exhibition areas or glass-enclosed transitional structures. In addition to sheer brightness, they differ drastically in their IP rating (Ingress Protection): While indoor modules are typically manufactured with an IP30 rating, outdoor cabinets with IP65 (front) and IP54 (rear) ratings offer complete protection against water jets and dust. In addition, outdoor modules feature UV-resistant silicone potting compounds and protected data interfaces.

A technical factor that is often underestimated is thermal dynamics and adaptive brightness control. Modern LED processors use light sensors to dynamically adjust nits levels to ambient light. If an indoor wall display runs continuously at 100% maximum brightness, not only does power consumption increase dramatically, but so does the waste heat generated by the integrated IT connectors and switching power supplies. Overheated diodes gradually change their wavelength—leading to undesirable color shifts and, in the worst case, accelerated aging of the red, green, and blue emitters. Intelligent thermal management within the cabinet—whether passive via large-surface-area aluminum heat sinks or active via quiet, temperature-controlled fans—is therefore essential for stable, continuous operation throughout trade shows lasting several days.

Accurately Calculate Structural Analysis, Rigging, and Power Requirements

Behind the dazzling aesthetics of an LED wall lies cutting-edge electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. The structural analysis begins with the dead weight of the modules: A typical indoor cabinet (usually measuring 50 × 50 cm or 50 × 100 cm) weighs about 7 to 12 kg, including the die-cast aluminum frame, power supplies, and receiver cards. This quickly adds up to a weight per square meter of 25 to 40 kg. For a typical 8 × 4-meter wall, this means that over one metric ton of dead load is suspended from the rigging points. According to DGUV Regulation 17/18 (formerly BGV C1), rigging systems, trusses, and lifting accessories such as C-hooks, shackles, and steel safety cables be designed with appropriate safety factors to safely absorb dynamic loads and accommodate the bending tolerances of the hall ceiling.

The power consumption of an LED wall is often dramatically overestimated or underestimated. A strict distinction must be made between the maximum power consumption (peak load at 100% white image) and the average power consumption (typical content). A reliable guideline for modern indoor modules is: approximately 500 to 700 watts/$m^2$ peak load and about 200 to 350 watts/$m^2$ in actual operation. For our 32 $m^2$ example wall, this means a maximum load of over 20 kW! In this case, a symmetrical distribution across a three-phase power system (CEE 32A or CEE 63A) is absolutely essential. Another parameter of inestimable importance is the inrush current (start-up current peak): When dozens of switching power supplies charge their capacitors within the same millisecond window, the current spike can reach ten times the rated current and cause circuit breakers to trip prematurely. Delayed power-up sequences (power sequencing) are the technical solution here.

Calculation Matrix: Power and Weight Values for Event Scenarios

Parameters

Indoor Fine-Pitch (1.5 mm)

Indoor Standard (2.6 mm)

Outdoor High-Brightness (3.9 mm)

Weight per square meter

approx. 28–38 kg

approx. 22–30 kg

approx. 30–45 kg

Max. Power Requirement (White)

~ 650 W/m²

~ 550 W/m²

~ 900 W/m²

Average Power Consumption (Content)

~ 250 W/m²

~ 200 W/m²

~ 350 W/m²

Heat output (BTU/h/m²)

~ 2,200 BTU

~ 1,870 BTU

~ 3,070 BTU

Recommended Protection

C-Characteristic / Power Sequence

C-curve

D-Rating / CEE 63A

In addition to structural and electrical considerations, operational reliability requires an uncompromising redundancy strategy. If the signal supply fails on a main stage in the middle of an executive board presentation, the damage would be immense. Professional system architectures therefore rely on loop-through signal loops with two independent controller units (primary and backup transmitters). Should the main cable break or a data card fail, the system switches to the redundant signal path without interruption within microseconds. The same principle applies to the power supply: High-quality cabinets feature dual power supplies. BPS (Backup Power Supply) ensures that even if one phase fails, the wall continues to illuminate without any dark spots. This is engineering reliability that gives event planners peace of mind.

Creative custom shapes and seamless integration into booths

The era of rigid, right-angled displays is finally over. Today, modern LED technology blends organically with trade show architecture. Thanks to beveled cabinet edges (45-degree miter cuts), 90-degree outside corners can be constructed with millimeter precision. This creates breathtaking digital columns, monolithic cubes, or L-shaped screens that transition seamlessly from the wall surface to the ceiling. For curved booth designs, manufacturers offer so-called Curvatile panels: Precise housing hinges allow for pre-set radii ranging from -10° (concave) to +10° (convex) per module. This allows the video surface to nestle against organically shaped trade show architecture like a second skin.

Checklist for Architectural Integration

Tolerance Management: Allow for at least 20 mm of clearance around the entire frame to accommodate thermal expansion.
Access Panels: Provide rear access (Rear Service) or a tool for front access (Magnetic Extractor).
Substructure: Use non-warping system profiles (e.g., BeMatrix, Aluvision, or Item) to prevent edge misalignment.
Gap Matching: Fine-tune the module connections to eliminate black or light-colored separation lines.

When the design needs to be even more unconventional, that’s where flexible soft LED modules and transparent LED mesh systems come into play. The flexible soft modules consist of a rubberized silicone carrier board with a magnetic backing. They can be mounted on complex, free-form cylindrical or wave-shaped structures, such as those found in luxury lobbies or automotive trade show booths. Transparent LED walls, on the other hand, use delicate LED bars mounted on acrylic or glass strands with a light transmittance of up to 70 percent. They make it possible to visually structure spaces, create depth, and produce fascinating layered effects in which real exhibits are showcased behind a floating, semi-transparent video layer.

The biggest technical challenge with custom shapes lies in achieving a perfect sub-millimeter gap—known as gap matching. Since LED modules must be perfectly flush against one another, even the slightest warping in the wood or aluminum substructure results in visible light or dark line patterns in the image. Professional installers therefore use three-dimensionally adjustable mounting adapters and laser-assisted leveling systems. Only when the substructure’s mechanics are free of torsion do the Cabinets’ mechanical quick-locks engage perfectly with one another. The result is a visual surface that gives the viewer the illusion of being made from a single, cast piece of glass.

Content Optimization: Formats, Frame Rates, and Visuals

Even the most expensive, state-of-the-art LED hardware is worthless if the content displayed on it isn’t precisely tailored to the screen’s physical characteristics. Unlike standard monitors or projectors with fixed HD or 4K aspect ratios, LED walls at trade show booths often have custom, anamorphic aspect ratios—for example, 1200 × 384 pixels on an elongated strip. If a standard 16:9 video is upscaled here, the result is a terrible jumble of pixels. The content must be created and exported pixel-to-pixel (1:1) at the LED wall’s native canvas resolution. Media servers such as Disguise, Dataton WATCHOUT, or Pixera handle the precise mapping and ensure that the graphics processors drive each pixel without bilinear scaling losses.

An extremely critical but often overlooked parameter is the refresh rate of the LED driver in conjunction with the frame rate of the video source. Standard video content runs at 30 or 60 FPS (frames per second). However, the driver chips on the LED modules must multiplex this data at several thousand hertz (pulse-width modulation). For viewing by the human eye alone, 1,920 Hz is often sufficient. However, as soon as trade show visitors or TV crews film the booth with cameras or smartphones, low refresh rates result in unsightly black stripes (scan lines) on the image. Professional LED systems for trade shows and events therefore operate at refresh rates ranging from 3,840 Hz to 7,680 Hz. This ensures that the image remains completely flicker-free, even with the extremely fast shutter speeds of smartphone cameras.

The visual design of the content also requires specific expertise. Since LEDs are self-illuminating, a pure white background not only causes extreme glare and generates a great deal of heat, but also drives power consumption to the limit. Dark, high-contrast backgrounds with deep blacks, dynamic particle effects, and vivid color gradients take full advantage of the LED modules’ maximum contrast ratio and create an incomparably more sophisticated look. In addition, fine, single-phase line grids should be avoided, as these can interfere with the physical pixel matrix of the LEDs and create moiré patterns. When color management (Rec.709 or DCI-P3), bit depth (ideally 10-bit or 12-bit HDR for smooth gradients without color banding), and hardware refresh rate work together seamlessly, the LED wall becomes a magical portal for your brand message.

The planning and implementation of an LED wall for trade shows and events is a fascinating interplay of mathematical precision, electrical engineering expertise, and creative vision. When pixel pitch, viewing distance, luminance, and content creation work in harmony, gray aluminum architecture is transformed into a captivating visual experience. It’s the technological details under the hood—from precise phase alignment and flicker-free 3,840-Hz drivers to miter joints accurate to the millimeter—that make the subtle difference between an average display surface and an unforgettable brand presentation.

Those who respect the laws of physics and rely on professional equipment and experienced AV designers not only ensure a smooth, trouble-free trade show day but also create a stage that magnetically draws the eye. View technical challenges as creative opportunities: With the right guidelines in mind, a keen sense of spatial impact, and a little passion for glowing semiconductors, nothing will stand in the way of your next trade show success.

When the gates of Messe Frankfurt open in 2026, visitors to the world’s leading trade fair for the automotive industry will be treated to a very special highlight. On behalf of the trade fair company, AVMS GmbH has been commissioned to carry out a spectacular project: LED gates for the Automechanika Pit Lane. Between Halls 4 and 6, two massive start and finish gates are being constructed, which will not only serve as visual attractions but also bring the pulsating energy of a real pit lane to the exhibition grounds. As experts in innovative event technology, we are proud to bring this dynamic concept to life with state-of-the-art technology and custom-designed exhibition stands.

Technical Implementation of the LED Gates for the Automechanika Pit Lane

automechanika-2026-pit-lane-pit-lane-gatehouse-construction

The physical construction of the massive start and finish gate requires the highest precision in terms of trussing and rigging. Right on the outdoor grounds between Halls 4 and 6, our technicians are erecting a freestanding, weatherproof, and structurally sound portal structure. To perfectly capture the typical racing atmosphere, we’re using a clever, double-sided design. While one side of the truss structure is covered with a large-format, high-resolution printed textile banner that impressively showcases sponsors and the trade show’s branding, the digital heart of the system beats on the reverse side. This is where our years of expertise in professional trade show construction shine through, with robust mechanics and sophisticated electronics seamlessly integrated.

The absolute centerpiece of this design is the impressive, flush-mounted LED wall. With a remarkable width of 8 meters and a height of 1.5 meters, it serves as the dynamic information hub for the entire Automechanika Pit Lane. To guarantee brilliant image quality and strong contrast even under challenging outdoor lighting conditions, we’ve installed high-performance, daylight-capable outdoor panels here. Thishigh-end media technology is powered by our specially configured media servers, which enable latency-free, frame-accurate content playback. Anyone interested in the technology used here can find more in-depth specifications on our LED modules page.

However, the true magic of this event technology only unfolds in a live setting, when the gate is actively integrated into the show concept. Just like at a real motorsports event, the wide LED banner announces the debut of brand-new race cars, exclusive product presentations, and key program highlights in sync with the event’s rhythm. Thanks to the smart integration of the control rooms with the screen management system, our operators can react in real time to the fast-paced action at Automechanika. In this way, classic architecture, roaring engines, and state-of-the-art display technology merge into an immersive experience for every single trade show visitor.

Highlights of the Pit Lane Gate at a Glance

automechanika-2026-pit-lane-with-gatehouse

The Pit Lane Gate is far more than just a simple marker between two exhibition halls; it is an emotional flagship project.
Seamless LED Panels: Wow Factor vs. Capital Commitment

Anyone strolling through the halls of today’s leading global trade shows will immediately sense that while the classic textile display frame hasn’t yet had its day, the real magic happens on the illuminated, moving surfaces. Modern modular wall systems from manufacturers such as beMatrix with its LEDskin, Octanorm, or Aluvision have revolutionized trade show architecture. The seamless integration of high-resolution LED modules directly into the mechanical grid of the aluminum frames creates that coveted “wow” effect that keeps visitors lingering at the booth. It is a technical symbiosis of robust metal construction and delicate optoelectronics that enables architects to create entirely new, fluid spatial concepts. Suddenly, static walls and dynamic content merge into an immersive brand experience, where the hardware elegantly recedes into the background.

But this visual brilliance comes at a price, and this is where the classic dilemma for every trade show stand builder and event service provider begins. Making the leap into the world of LED systems means not only an upgrade in visual quality but also a massive jump in costs. Purchasing hundreds of square meters of state-of-the-art LED modules ties up a massive amount of capital. We’re talking about high-tech silicon mounted on delicate circuit boards that can devour a significant portion of the annual budget. This tied-up capital is the natural enemy of liquidity, especially in an industry characterized by seasonal peaks and unpredictable project sizes. A dazzling presentation at the trade show inevitably raises the question of return on investment back at the home office.

This is precisely where opinions in business management diverge: Should you buy or lease? The answer to this question is far more complex than a simple price comparison in an Excel spreadsheet. It touches on deep technical processes, requires an understanding of hardware lifecycles, and puts your own logistics to the test. Those who blindly rush into a purchase because the lease payment seems attractive at first glance often overlook the hidden costs of maintenance and peripherals. On the other hand, those who always lease are throwing away hard-earned money when utilization rates are very high. To make this decision with a clear conscience, we need to scratch beneath the shiny surface of LED panels and delve deep into the physical and technical reality of light-emitting diodes.

LED Module Purchase Options: Maintenance, Soldering Station, and Firmware

The appeal of ownership is hard to resist: Anyone who keeps their own LED modules in stock enjoys maximum availability, independence from the schedules of large dry-hire providers, and—with consistently high utilization—an unbeatable margin. Once the hardware is paid off, every square meter generates pure profit. That’s the theory, which many salespeople like to reduce to a back-of-the-envelope calculation. But the reality in the harsh trade show environment is quite different. Having your own LED inventory inevitably transforms a traditional trade show booth builder into an IT and electronics company. While the mechanical frames from system manufacturers are designed to protect the modules as best as possible, the reality of setup and teardown takes its toll.

Here we enter the world of precision engineering: LED modules require regular, highly specialized maintenance. The tiny SMD pixels—especially those with fine pixel pitches of 2.5 mm or less—are extremely vulnerable to mechanical impact. A slight bump against an aluminum crossbar, a careless grip while inserting the module into the system frame—and already the edge pixels are torn off or damaged. Anyone who thinks a bit of superglue will solve the problem is sorely mistaken. Proper repair of the circuit boards requires professional micro-soldering stations, hot-air rework systems, and an extremely steady hand under a microscope. Therefore, operating your own warehouse absolutely requires the expertise and personnel to perform these repairs at the component level; otherwise, the expensive module quickly turns into useless electronic waste.

In addition to hardware maintenance, there is another, invisible enemy of image quality: the gradual aging of the diodes. LED modules must be continuously updated with fresh firmware and, more importantly, calibrated regularly. LEDs lose luminosity over their lifetime, and this process does not proceed exactly the same way for every diode. To prevent color and brightness shifts—which appear as distracting “spots” or “clouds” on a uniform wall—the entire batch must be re-calibrated at regular intervals using high-resolution cameras. This software maintenance and calibration takes time, requires expensive specialized equipment, and leaves no room for negligence when the premium customer expects a flawless brand-red at the next trade show.

Batch Integrity & Peripherals: Controllers and Feeders

If there is one unwritten but ironclad rule in LED technology, it is this: You must not mix production batches. When purchasing LED modules—whether for beMatrix, Octanorm, or Aluvision—so-called batch consistency is the absolute standard. Light-emitting diodes are sorted by color location and brightness during production runs, a process known as “binning.” Even if you reorder the exact same module from the same manufacturer two years after your initial purchase, these new panels will come from a different batch. The result when combining them on an exhibition wall? A visual disaster. Modules from different production batches often exhibit unsightly variations in contrast, brightness, or color. A seamless wall turns into a patchwork quilt that undermines any professional standard.

But the modules alone don’t create the image. The entire lighting display is controlled via a complex chain of LED controllers and media players. Systems like Novastar or Brompton are the hidden brains behind the wall. They receive the video signal, calculate the routing, and send the data packets via network cables to the individual receiver cards in the modules. This hardware isn’t some plug-and-play toy from the consumer market. It requires a deep understanding of signal paths, color spaces, redundancy circuits, and latencies. If the signal flickers at the trade show or a module goes black, the fault must be pinpointed in this chain in a fraction of a second.

This brings us to the crucial human factor: Proficiency in using the mapping software and hardware peripherals must be deeply ingrained within the team. It is not enough to physically assemble the system walls to perfection; the pixels must be precisely mapped to their physical locations in the software. If a door is cut out of the LED wall or corners are built around corners, the “pixel pusher” at the controller must know exactly how to virtually slice and route the canvas. So buyers must not only invest in silicon and aluminum, but also heavily in the training and professional development of their employees, so that they can master the complex array of controllers, media players, and mapping tools with expertise.

The burden of ownership stands in contrast to the smart ease of project-based rental. The greatest and most appealing advantage of renting LED systems lies in the radical minimization of your own risk. LED technology is evolving at a rapid pace. What was considered a high-end pixel pitch (e.g., 3.9 mm) just three years ago is often now merely standard, while premium customers demand 1.9 mm or even finer resolutions. Those who rent avoid the treacherous trap of technological obsolescence. For each project, you book exactly the generation of hardware that meets current market requirements, and confidently leave the risk of outdated technology to your dry-hire partner.

In addition, renting offers unbeatable flexibility in terms of scalability and system compatibility. Today, your customer is building a 20-square-meter booth using beMatrix frames; tomorrow, another project may require an 80-square-meter wall in the Octanorm system. Those who rent can adapt like a chameleon to the mechanical conditions and the sheer volume required, without ever reaching the limits of their own inventory. Especially for large-scale projects that would exceed your own inventory capacity, renting is the only way to avoid jeopardizing your liquidity through risky additional purchases. You pay only for the days when the equipment is actually generating revenue—a business owner’s dream.

The savings on hidden costs—which are often overlooked when considering a purchase—should not be underestimated. When you rent, you outsource the entire burden of maintenance. No need for expensive in-house soldering stations, no weeks-long calibration sessions, no storage space that needs to be climate-controlled and secured, and above all: no worries about dead pixels. The modules arrive on site in a flight case, fully serviced, from a single production batch, and ready for use. Should a panel happen to be damaged during transport, a certain percentage of spare modules is included as standard in the rental agreement. This worry-free predictability makes renting the strategically smarter—and more predictable—choice for many trade show builders.

Hard Facts: Structural Analysis, Electrical Load, and Special Resolutions

Whether purchased or rented, at the end of the day, the designers’ bright vision comes up against the hard facts of physics. The first stumbling block that throws many an ambitious booth design off course is simply gravity. Even though modern LED modules for system walls are getting thinner and thinner, they still pack quite a bit of weight. The weight of LED modules, including their mechanical frames, is a considerable 25 to 40 kg per square meter. For a large-scale wall five meters high and ten meters wide, we’re quickly looking at a weight of up to two metric tons. This has a massive impact on the structural integrity of the design. Heavy floor stands, massive ballast systems, or expensive truss suspensions with strict limitations on suspension points must be calculated and approved by certified structural engineers.

The second physical bottleneck is thermal management and the diodes’ high power consumption. LED walls—especially those used for large-scale installations with daylight-level brightness—have enormous energy requirements. A common mistake is to calculate only the average power consumption. However, the key metric for exhibition hall planning is the maximum power load, known as peak power. When the display is turned on or the content briefly shows a pure white image at full brightness, the power supplies instantly draw their maximum power from the grid. If this peak power is not strictly taken into account when ordering the trade show power connections, the fuses in the hall floor will inevitably blow during the first test run, leaving the booth in the dark.

Last but not least, the hardware also takes its toll on the creative minds. Anyone who equips a system wall with LED modules usually has to say goodbye to standardized screen formats. The resolution of LED walls almost always differs from common video sizes, such as the classic 16:9 Full HD format. A wall might suddenly measure 2,304 x 896 pixels. This means that existing promotional videos or presentations cannot simply be played via plug-and-play without being cropped or displaying black bars. The content must be precisely adapted and rendered by motion designers in advance—down to the pixel—to these non-standard dimensions to ensure optimal, distortion-free display. Only then can the perfect illusion be created—the very illusion the client ultimately pays for.

Conclusion and Decision-Making Guide: Checklist for Trade Show Booth Builders

Deciding whether to buy or rent LED modules for system walls is like choosing between marriage and a lifetime subscription: Both have their appeal, but the commitments are fundamentally different. If you buy, you’re tied to a specific generation of hardware, assume full responsibility for the thermal and electronic well-being of your silicon treasures, and must set up a professional infrastructure for maintenance, calibration, and logistics. Purchasing is only financially worthwhile if you can guarantee a consistently high utilization rate throughout the year, use a homogeneous system environment (e.g., exclusively beMatrix), and have a technically savvy in-house team that handles the soldering iron just as confidently as the mapping software.

Renting, on the other hand, is the ideal solution for anyone who values financial flexibility and technological independence. It protects against the rapid depreciation of optoelectronics, guarantees batch-consistent, freshly maintained panels for every project, and avoids the pitfalls of defective pixels and outdated firmware. If your project business fluctuates significantly, you need to switch between different trade-show construction systems, or you simply don’t have the resources to operate your own electronics lab, turning to a specialized dry-hire partner is the only logical choice. The slightly lower margin per square meter is more than offset by absolute planning certainty and peace of mind.

At the end of the day, when the exhibition hall is buzzing and the seamless LED wall captivates visitors, the viewer couldn’t care less who owns the hardware. What matters is that the technology works flawlessly, the structure holds up, and the power flows. Use this checklist, calculate your “Total Cost of Ownership” honestly and without rose-colored glasses, and choose the path that not only looks great on paper but also stands up to the realities of the rough and tumble of everyday trade show life. Stay technically curious, plan for peak power generously, and let the pixels do the talking!

August 10, 2026 marks a very special milestone for us at AVMS Germany: the kickoff of our new training year! When a breath of fresh air sweeps through our hallways and curious faces explore our facilities, we know that the future of the events industry is secure. This year, we’ve come up with something very special for our new talents to make their entry into professional life not only informative but, above all, unforgettable and interactive. After all, the best way to start a successful career is with a strong sense of team spirit, lots of fun, and a good dose of color.

A sweet start for our new AVMS apprentices

The first day on the job is often filled with excitement—which is why it was important to us to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere right away. Our welcome day got off to a cozy start with a sweet welcome breakfast in our company kitchen. With fresh snacks, aromatic coffee, and cold drinks, our new trainees had the perfect opportunity to settle in at their own pace. Here, they were able to get to know not only their future trainers but also the entire AVMS team in a relaxed setting and make their first valuable connections.

Refreshed and reenergized, we then set out on an extensive tour of the company. Together, we took a look behind the scenes: from the modern offices to the various departments and on to the heart of our operations—the large warehouse equipped with state-of-the-art media technology. This year, we’re particularly proud of a great internal success story: One of our former trainees from the warehouse logistics department has decided to switch paths within the company and is now starting his new apprenticeship with us as an event technology specialist. This shows us once again how important it is to nurture talent on an individual basis and to offer genuine opportunities for growth within our own company.

After taking in so many new impressions, another important moment was on the agenda: the official handover of workspaces. Each intern was able to move into their own fully furnished workspace, which will serve as their home base for the coming years. To perfectly cap off this already exciting morning, there was a festive surprise in store. In keeping with the tradition of a true new beginning, we presented each of our new team members with a generously filled AVMS “school cone” as a welcome gift—a little boost of motivation for the exciting tasks ahead.

In the afternoon, it was time to leave the daily office routine behind and slip into our protective suits! To really break the ice and build team spirit right from the start, we had prepared a creative team-building event. At our depot, we transformed a large area covered with protective tarps into a real open-air studio for our AVMS graffiti contest. Equipped with countless colorful spray cans and custom-made stencils, our young talent was able to let their imaginations run wild and show just how much creative energy they have.

The task was to design unique works of art and panels that reflect our passion for the industry. The results were truly impressive! The participants created stunning and colorful designs centered on technology, audiovisual media, and, of course, our AVMS branding. Each trainee brought their own unique style to the project, while everyone helped, laughed, and inspired one another. The creative session culminated in a proud presentation of the finished artwork, which we captured for posterity in a group photo in front of our AVMS van.

This initiative epitomizes our philosophy as a training company. At AVMS Germany, we are deeply passionate about investing in the next generation of the events industry. We want to do more than just impart technical expertise to our apprentices; we aim to offer them real career prospects and foster a strong sense of team spirit. An apprenticeship with us means that hands-on experience and enjoyment of the work go hand in hand from day one. The beaming faces of our new colleagues prove to us that this kickoff was a complete success across the board.

We’re thrilled to welcome these new additions to our AVMS family and can’t wait to rock the upcoming events and projects together with our new talents. The start of the 2026 training program has impressively shown that with creativity, teamwork, and the right amount of motivation, anything is possible. Welcome to the team—here’s to an educational, colorful, and successful apprenticeship at AVMS Germany!
